Description
Moving back to the USA for work. I've attached a few photos from when we purchased it a year and a half ago when we came to the UK. I can get out and take more recent ones, but it's largely unchanged - if anything mechanically it's in better condition than when we bought it.
It's got a little over 107k miles, leather seats, a sun roof, and virtually every other option the car was offered with at the time. It has also had recent brake work, oil change, rear pneumatic bags for the self leveling suspension, a new battery, three new tires, and a couple of other items. It still looks really good when cleaned up but does have a few dings consistent with a car driven in central London. It just passed MOT and has 12 months Westminster parking.
In the "problem" category is a slow battery drain that I'm still chasing down (the alternator works great but if you leave it too long with the battery connected and don't drive it, it drains). The radio also cuts out intermittently. I'm not sure if the two issues are related, but as the battery is easily accessible via the boot, I've just been disconnecting the battery if I'm leaving the car for a longer period of time and it's been doing fine.
We've driven it all over the UK with no issues, using it to haul our kids and camping gear to various places. It's got tons of cargo room, and I'll include a bike rack for the back, and a luggage bag for the roof (it has roof rails to attach to) as part of the sale. Sad to see it go.
Finally, Jeremy Clarkson stated this series and vintage BMW is the finest car ever made. I agree completely. The engine is bullet proof, it feels solid on the road, and it's perfectly balanced. It's hard to go wrong with the E39 5 series.
